Description
The entire food service area will be renovated and modernized, giving students three distinct areas within the cafeteria to order food.  As part of this work, the open patio outside the commons will be enclosed and incorporated into Aramark's checkout area.  The cafeteria work will be completed by the time students return for the Fall semester. 

Immediately upon completion of the cafeteria, construction work will shift to the common area - Public Safety will be moved out of the Campus Center, the book store and C-store will be renovated and a new entrance to the Campus Center will be constructed facing Hoosac Hall.
 

Status
A bidder walk through opportunity was held on Monday, May 5th. Eight prospective sub-contractors and general contractors attended.  

Campus Impacts
During phase 1, Aramark plans to serve up to 200 people per meal in the Venable Gym, meaning the Gym will be fully booked for the summer.  In addition, Aramark will have to plan for no dishwashing capabilities during phase 1 since the configuration of the dirty dish conveyor will be modified.   During phase 2 of construction, which will be during the Academic Fall Semester, access to the cafeteria will be from the gym side.  The entire atrium area of the Campus Center will be under construction making access through the atrium entirely off limits.  Handicapped persons will have to use the elevator and transit through the kitchen area to access the cafeteria.
