This function consists of Maintainers who perform daily cleaning and light maintenance inside all campus buildings. In addition, this staff performs all conference set-ups and break downs, performs snow and ice removal around the perimeter of the buildings, and light routine maintenance inside the buildings. These Maintainers also assist with staff moves, the recycling program and performs project cleaning during building vacancy periods.
The Grounds Section is responsible for the maintenance and landscaping care of all outdoor areas of the campus, including lawns, athletic fields, trees, shrubs and flowers. Grounds also provides trash collection service, snow and ice removal; and storm drain maintenance. In addition, the members of the Grounds Section are a source of supplemental labor for event set-up, moving services, drivers, etc.
There are many different users of our facilities in addition to our core academic activities. While major events are generally held in Murdock, Amsler Campus Center, Church Street Center and Venable Gym, there are frequent requests for minor services in all buildings on campus. Campus events are coordinated through the Student Activities Center.
Campus Recycling Program
MCLA is dedicated to the preservation of our natural resources. To this end, recycling bins for paper and computer paper have been clearly identified and placed in strategic locations throughout the campus.
