MCLA is Going Green.
What can you do?
The MCLA Campus Sustainability Committee, aka "Green Team", is committed to a campus-wide program to reduce energy use, increase recycling, and invest our campus and community in sustainability.
Recycle electronics responsibly.
Participate in MCLA electronics recycling collections or bring your old technology to Best Buy, Goodwill, or another collection point.
Take Charge, Take the Pledge!
Sign an online pledge to positively contribute to reducing MCLA's carbon footprint through a few simple steps.
Your Global Ecological Footprint
Calculate your ecological footprint at home and at MCLA.
MCLA Employees
Go paperless with your pay advices! Follow these steps:
- Go to the MA State Employee PayInfo Site
- Enter your employee ID (on your pay advice) as your ID. Enter the same number as your Password, plus the last 4 digits of your SS#.
- Change your Password, Login, and Click "Go Paperless Now!"
- You can still login with your employee ID# and new PW to view and print any previous pay advice.
Light Bulb Swap for Residents
Students living in dorms: Bring your incandescent light bulbs to the Hoosac Hall front desk and trade them in for new, energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs(CFLs)! While supplies last! And when your new bulbs burn out, *remember that CFLs have to be handled carefully* and can't be thrown in the regular waste containers. Bring them to the front desks of Hoosac, Berkshire Towers, or the Greenhouse for proper disposal!
Need Help with Your Energy Audit?
After you've signed the online pledge, you can perform a simple Energy Audit on your room. Contact the Green Team Coordinator, Caroline Scully to check out the Energy Audit kit and find out how it works.
Venable Hall Solar Panels
Check out real-time monitoring of our photovoltaic array, located on the roof top of Venable Hall. At Soltrex.com you can monitor the power output of the array and the sunlight in watts per square meter. You'll also see air temperature and wind speed data. These panels are a functional classroom.
Recycle Used Batteries!
Take your used batteries to the Physics Department in Bowman Hall outside the Machine Shop for recycling. For other "odd ball" recyclables see the link to the right, "Where do I recycle this?".
