About the Area

A College Town in a Culturally Rich Community

Mohawk WelcomeMCLA is located in North Adams, in the northwestern corner of Massachusetts, in Berkshire County's vibrant arts community. While North Adams is the smallest city in the state, it offers a number of great shops, artists' galleries and museums within walking distance of the College, and a full-service regional hospital less than two miles away.

North Adams also boasts the state's highest mountain peak and numerous state parks and natural wonders. The city is home to MASS MoCA, one of the nation's largest contemporary art museums.

Our Neighbors

Close by, Williamstown and Pittsfield offer the Williamstown Theatre Festival and a variety of concerts and other performances in the Colonial Theatre, in addition to some great coffee shops, museums and more.

It's in the Mountain Air

The Berkshire Hills are one of the most scenic, historic, and culturally rich areas in America. There are endless opportunities to explore the natural beauty of western Massachusetts: join the Outdoor Trailblazers Club and hike the Appalachian Trail; or visit the slopes of Jiminy Peak, Mt. Snow, and Stratton Mountain in the fall with your mountain biker or in the winter with the Ski Club.

If art galleries, museums, music, film and dramatic performance are more your style, you have your pick of renowned venues nearby, with public transportation right on campus.

We are located close to the Vermont and New York borders, and within a three-hour drive of both Boston and New York City. Our students come from all over the Northeast, and our professors and staff enjoy the benefits of living where nature and culture are in harmony.  Our campus is safe, beautiful, and a place where you can focus on learning. We invite you to come visit us and discover MCLA for yourself.
