June 26-July 27
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' (MCLA) Gallery 51 announces "Thebes," an exhibition of work by Egyptian artist Alaa Awad. Through the use of pharaonic motifs and calligraphy, Awad's murals and paintings link Egypt's revolutionary present to its ancient past.
As part of "Thebes," Awad will create an original mural along the Route 2 overpass, to be revealed on the 26th in conjunction with the 2014 launch of MCLA's Downstreet Art gallery program. The mural, as well as the gallery opening, mark Awad's first exhibition and commissioned mural in the United States.
MCLA Gallery 51 is a program of MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center. The gallery is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 51 Main St. North Adams, MA. For more information. please call (413) 664 8718
