99 and Up: Art for the New Economy                Opening Reception: Thursday,December 3 from 5-7 p.m

In these dire times of shrinking bank accounts, government bail-outs, and increasingly abstract concepts of value, there is an ever-growing need for creative survival and re-inventions of "worth." For your consideration, MCLA Gallery 51 offers a selection of small, affordable artworks by local and national artists: in a sense these objects are "priceless," but with a price tag somewhere between 99 cents and 99 dollars. What's it worth to you?A free opening reception will be held Thursday, December 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. as part of a downtown-wide evening of gallery openings and activities - DownStreet Art Thursday on Ice. A perfect opportunity to stock up on unique, affordable gifts.All items can be taken at time of purchase, and gift wrapping will be available. Featured artists include: C. Ryder Cooley, Laura Christensen, Daniel Field, James Fissel, Forest Graham, Ellen Grenadier, Henry Klein, Jamie Mohr, Melanie Mowinski, Mark Mulherrin, Lisa Nilsson, Rich Remsburg, Sean Riley, Anna Katrina Sacramento, Gregory Scheckler, Jarvis Rockwell, Ven Voisey. 99 and up: Art for the New Economy is on exhibit through January 3.MCLA Gallery 51 is a program of MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center.
