Williams College '62 Center for Theatre and Dance
In collaboration with Williams College and MASS MoCA, MCLA is proud to present the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. A week of working with students and community members will culminate in an opportunity to see one of the nation's premiere African-American dance companies perform at the Williams '62 Center for Theater and Dance.
The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble will pay tribute to dance great Katherine Dunham, in recognition of what would have been her 100th year.
Also join CPRDE at MCLA Gallery 51 on February 26, 2009 for the opening reception of Locus, an exhibition curated by Lauren Wolk.
The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble has transformed the stage
into a sanctuary of healing art by entertaining, elevating and educating
for more than thirty years. Guided by the pioneering vision of Cleo Parker
Robinson, the Ensemble continues to uplift and excite audiences worldwide
through an explosive body of works inspired by the African American experience
and rooted in Black dance traditions.
Legendary and emerging artists alike are drawn by the spirit of the company to create works that transcend the boundaries of culture, class and age while unequivocally communicating the complexity of the human condition.
"Cleo Parker Robinson is one of the most glamorously feisty company directors in American dance..." - New York Times
