Accessing Databases From Off Campus

Current MCLA students, faculty and staff can now access EBSCOhost, InfoTrac, LexisNexis, Grove Art Online, Massachusetts Newsstand and the Springfield Republican from off campus using their MCLANET login information, which is the same information used to log in to FirstClass.

Freel Library Web Site

www.mcla.edu/library

Students taking distance education or hybrid courses at MCLA are able to access many academic resources without coming to the campus. The Freel Library web site, of which this page is a part, provides  links to many of these resources. Some, such as the catalog of books in our library, are  available to all. Other resources, including the EBSCOhost, InfoTrac and LexisNexis journal article databases, require a MCLANET user ID and password.

Journal Articles

Many articles from journals or newspapers can be obtained online through the databases found here. EBSCOhost, Infotrac, Massachusetts Newspapers and LexisNexis Academic provide full text articles from thousands of journals and newspapers, as well as additional indexing to many others. If you find a reference to an article not in these databases, you may ask us to obtain a copy for you from another library. Please call the Reference Desk (662-5325) for more information.

Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library is currently offering residents of Massachusetts access to a number of online databases, some of which include full text journal articles. For more information and to register, please go to http://www.bpl.org/general/circulation/ecards.htm

Books

Using your CWMARS public library card, you can request items in the catalog (wmars.cwmars.org/search~S36) to be delivered to your local public library, if it is part of the regional library system.  Please contact your local library for more information. Books requested using your MCLA library card number must be delivered to Freel Library at MCLA and picked up there.
