LIBRARY POLICIES

Becoming a Borrower: Borrowing privileges are extended to all students, faculty and staff of the college. Residents of Berkshire Country should bring in their CWMARS library card issued by their local public library. MCLA does not issue library cards to area residents. A current college ID is required for students, faculty and staff who wish to borrow materials. Students from other Massachusetts public higher education institutions may borrow materials with a current college ID. Students from other institutions are advised to check with their own library regarding reciprocal borrowing procedures.

Loan Periods: MCLA books are loaned out to students and residents for 28 days. Materials are loaned to faculty for the semester. MCLA materials may be renewed unless requested by another patron. Fines are 10 cents per day per item. Videos and DVDs from the Popular Viewing Collection are loaned overnight only and the fine is $1.00 per item per day. Only one video or  DVD can be borrowed at a time. Videos in the MCLA media collection can only be borrowed by faculty. Students may make arrangements to view them in the library or for classroom use. MCLA does not loan its videos or DVDs through interlibrary loan.  Reference books, textbooks, periodicals, microfilm, theses and materials in any of the special collections cannot be borrowed.
