What We Do:

We work with MCLA students who wish to receive feedback on the following aspects of writing:

  • Developing ideas for a paper
  • Composing a thesis statement
  • Editing (including using correct punctuation and grammar)
  • Using appropriate citations

Where We Are Located:

Freel Library (Lower Level), Hoosac Hall (Lobby) and Online via the MCLA FirstClass Desktop (Academic Groups and Resources - Writing Associates' Helpbox).

Who May Receive Assistance:

Any student enrolled in an MCLA course is encouraged to use the Writing and Research Center.

The Center operates on a drop-in basis. Students must sign in each time they utilize the Center and complete a one time per semester intake form. For further information, contact Mary Levitt at 662-5494.

Instructions for FirstClass Helpbox: Click on Academic Groups and Resources on your FirstClass Desktop. Click on Writing Center Helpbox. Send your paper to the box by email. An associate will correspond with you by means of Instant Messenger, email or telephone (local call). Please indicate your preferred method to receive feedback. Also, please tell the associate what feedback you would like to receive on your paper and indicate the class for which the paper is being written.
