in the words of our students
Kate Augustine, ‘06: “I found Italian classes to be fun and challenging at the same time. Italian 1 was a good brush up of the basics while also providing new skills. The cultural information was useful and easy to learn.” Danielle Downey-Leyva ‘04: "I loved taking Spanish in the Summer. I was able to gain six credits in six weeks! That was great.” Patrick Lyddy ‘05: "My experience in the Modern Language Department has served me well. I have the ability to converse with customers at my job and I can better understand Spanish-speaking friends. The ability to use the second most prominent language in the United States is something that I cherish. In regard to the classes themselves, they have always been the perfect setting for learning. The small class sizes allow for conversation to take place using the language and immersion in history and culture rounds out the secondary language program. To anyone wishing to add a second language to their repertoire, I recommend the MCLA Modern Language Department.” Jessica Di Girolamo ‘04: “I enjoyed working toward my minor. I felt that taking a second language would put me ahead of others graduating with the same degree. I think that the minor program is important because it is offered in a small setting and it is fun.” Erik Wroldson ‘04: “I really enjoyed my experiences in [Dr. Ramsden’s] classes. I went to my first Spanish classes knowing only "Yo quiero Taco Bell," and now I am getting a minor in Spanish. The upper-level classes were both educational and enjoyable. I thought they were set up very well, and I looked forward to each and every class. I would highly recommend the Spanish program at MCLA.”
