Maria Bartini began teaching at MCLA in the Fall of 2001.  She received her Ph.D. in Life-Span Developmental Psychology in 1999 from the University of Georgia.  Prior to MCLA, Dr. Bartini taught at the University of North Carolina at Asheville for two years.

At MCLA, Dr. Bartini has taught Developmental Psychology, Adolescent Development, Adulthood and Aging, Psychology of Gender, Statistical Methods in Psychology, Research Design and Analysis, and Research Seminar in Relational Aggression.  She also developed the upper-level Psychology elective Childhood Disorders and a service course for Education licensure students, Applied Developmental Psychology. 

Dr. Bartini’s research focuses on social development in adolescence, primarily aggression and victimization in schools.  Students play an integral role in her research program and they have collaborated on numerous regional and national conference presentations.  Dr. Bartini’s work has been published in several journals, including Sex Roles, Merrill-Palmer Quarterly, American Educational Research Journal, and Journal of Educational Psychology.
