Dr. James L. May, Professor Dr. May joined the department in 1974 after receiving his doctorate in Social Psychology from Kansas State University. He has served as chair since 1998. His course offerings include Social Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Research Design and Analysis, Adolescent Development, Racism and Prejudice, and History of Psychology. Dr. May has mentored students on a variety of research projects including investigations into the role of physical appearance in social judgments, the role of race in driver-pedestrian interactions, and infant sign language. His mentored students have twice received honors at the greater Boston Undergraduate Psychological Research Conference for their presentations. Dr. May has long been an advocate of incorporating technology into the classroom. The department computer lab was funded by a grant he submitted to the National Science Foundation. He served on grant committees for applications to the Davis Educational Foundation and a Title III award from the Department of Education. He currently receives a course reduction for serving as the Coordinator for Faculty Professional Development. Back to Faculty List
