"Transferring to MCLA was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Being able to learn from and connect with the faculty and staff equipped me with greater networking capabilities/skills and the opportunity to use them outside of the institution, preparing me for the road ahead. Taking part and engaging in different clubs and organizations on campus helped to shape and guide me for countless opportunities."

Welcome to the MCLA Department of Psychology Home pageThe Psychology Department offers a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. We are one of the largest departments on campus and have a wide range of courses and opportunities for research and fieldwork.  Students can collaborate with faculty on established research programs or they can choose to pursue their own scholarly interests through a faculty-supervised independent study or senior thesis.  These research projects are often presented at regional conferences and some are even published in scholarly journalsStudents also have the opportunity to present their work at MCLA's Annual Undergraduate Research Conference.  In addition to these research opportunities, students can gain teaching experience through the teaching assistantship and valuable applied experience through internships in the community. Our range of field placement is far reaching, and students earn credit for work done under the supervision of the agency and a faculty member from the Psychology department.

We believe that this is what makes our program unique - students having the opportunity to learn first-hand what psychologists do in many varied settings, both in and out of the traditional classroom.

Upon graduation, our majors find challenging employment in social service and mental health agencies working with children, adolescents, and adults. Many of our graduates have gone on to masters and doctoral level programs in education, counseling, social work, law, business, and other related fields, as well as psychology.

Please e-mail Dr. Maria Bartini with your comments and/or suggestions.  Thank you!
