"Transferring to MCLA was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Being able to learn from and connect with the faculty and staff equipped me with greater networking capabilities/skills and the opportunity to use them outside of the institution, preparing me for the road ahead. Taking part and engaging in different clubs and organizations on campus helped to shape and guide me for countless opportunities."

The Honor's Center

We urge highly-motivated students to study and to work alongside other students who take a strong interest in their academic work. While our Honors courses play the most prominent role in furthering this goal, we also intend the program to foster a community of scholars who give and receive mutual intellectual encouragement and support.

The Honors Center is an important place for cultivating that community of scholars. Reserved for the use of Honors students and faculty for study and for holding meetings, it is outfitted with its own lounge, library, cluster of computers and seminar rooms -- a place to concentrate, a place to think, a place to exchange ideas with friends, a place to learn.

The Center is open to Honors students at all times during the academic year. It is equipped with computers, reference books, a modest library of classic texts, a digital-editing lab, an art production room, a TV, a refrigerator and micowave and study rooms for individual and group work. While it is not a lounge for socializing, it does serve as the site for receptions for visiting scholars, for discussion groups, and Honors classes sometimes meet there. The Book Course convenes at the Center and the Satellite Seminar meets there as well.
