Join Professor Denhard for Engl 372: The Arts of Medieval and Renaissance Britain in Spring 2008 About the course: The class will explore Medieval and Renaissance Britain during this full-semester course on campus and during our Spring Break travel component. We'll experience the arts and culture of the past and their contemporary legacies "hands on" through research and creative projects and during travel. This "texts in context" course is interdisciplinary, including the study of literature, theatre, music, dance, visual arts, architecture, fashion, and food. (Enrollment by permission of instructor. Prerequisite: Engl 250 or CCCA 100; sophomore status or above; course fulfills “texts in contexts” requirement for English/Communications major. Enrollment limited.)  Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London Spring 2008 base locations for our travel component will be York--a city in North Yorkshire with a fascinating Roman, Viking, Medieval and Renaissance heritage--and London--truly one of the world's great capital cities, with history, arts, and culture, and an intriguing mix of old and new. (We'll also travel by rail on a scenic route from York to the ancient and vibrant city of Edinburgh, Scotland for an exciting day visit.) Total price for travel = $2,675. per student (based on 15 student travelers) Included: Round-trip Airfare; BritRail Pass; 9 nights hotel accommodation, including daily full breakfast; all special events tickets, museum, & historic site admissions; several special meals (at least 3 dinners & 2 lunches, more if budget allows), snacks; taxifares to/from train stations and as needed; all London Underground travel; guidebook, and some fun "extras".
