Students at MCLA are encouraged to apply for funds to help cover the costs of a) research or creative projects or b) travel to a conference or other professional meeting.  In order to be eligible, the applicant must be an MCLA student who has made or will be making a significant intellectual contribution to the proposed activity.

Examples of fundable activities for research or creative projects include:

  • Data-collection surveys or instruments
  • Materials needed to complete a painting or sculpture
  • Lab equipment
  • Money to reimburse human subjects
  • Cost of music or film production

Examples of fundable activities for travel destinations include:

  • Conferences
  • Gallery openings
  • Film festivals
  • Workshops

To apply for a student grant (maximum of $300), students must complete an application (click here to download the application in MS Word) and ask their faculty advisor to write a letter of support (click here to download the letter of support form in MW Word).  Applications are evaluated on the student's intellectual contributions to the project and the merit of the proposed project or travel.  Completed applications (including the letter of support) should be sent to Dr. Tom Byrne, Psychology Department.
