Are you interested in a career in public relations? If so, get valuable media relations, grassroots relations, and community relations experience with a premier nonprofit organization and make a difference!

Get solid public relations experience and media training while helping hungry children and families. Become a Communications Intern with Project Bread - The Walk for Hunger, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ending hunger in Massachusetts. The organization is nationally recognized as a leader in its field. Fall interns will help us do follow-up work around the annual Walk for hunger, which takes place on the first Sunday in May. The Walk for Hunger is the oldest and largest continual one-day walk in in the nation. This past May 3rd, over 44,000 Walkers raised 3.9 million dollars for hungry people throughout Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:

*Assist in the drafting of press releases, email, and phone pitches
*Contact editorial departments for Project Bread-related stories
*Schedule guests for television and radio shows
*Assist with event publicity and public relations logistics
*Maintain a database of media contacts
*Gather news clips and maintain the clip-tracking system
*Participate in the evaluation of public relations activities and learn to make recommendations for improvement
*Be part of the media relations around a 44,000+person event
Required Skills
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, conscientious, organized, and has excellent follow through. Strong writing skills and a knack for doing research via telephone are also important. An interest in helping others is even better! Prior internship experience int he communications field is a huge benefit.
