Description
CHP-South Berkshire Community Coalition is a community driven organization with a focus on substance abuse prevention. Located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, SBCC reduces youth substance abuse by addressing the environmental factors that lead youth to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and by promoting factors that decrease the likelihood of substance abuse. Other prevention area include bullying and obesity. SBCC also has an interest in promoting wellness and fitness initiatives.

We are looking for interns with an interest in coalition building, substance abuse prevention, community service, civic engagement or public health.

Each opportunity is customized to meet the needs of our interns. We work with interns to develop a project list that is geared towards their interests and strengths. Opportunities are designed to be mutually beneficial. Interns often take the lead on substantive projects and work within and outside the office. Each internship option-summer, semester-long and year-round internship opportunities-offers a flexible work schedule.

By the end of their internship, candidates will be more familiar with some or all of the following: grant writing, public policy, evidence based prevention strategies, coalition building, Microsoft Office Suite applications, community organizing, event planning, oral and written reporting and the public health model.
Required Skills
Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, be willing/able to handle administrative tasks (photocopying, faxing, answering phones and Emails, etc.), ask questions and take initiative when not given specific direction.
