Description
JF Griffin Publishing is currently looking for a Print Design Intern to assist with the design and production of the large volume of publications we produce during the spring and summer months. This is a valuable opportunity to develop skills in design software, font usage/management, file management, preparing files for printing, intra-office communication, interpreting client requests and stock imagery acquisition. The position will involve both production and creative work, focusing on the design of small ‘classified’ advertisements (print- and web-based) that accompany each of our publications. As time allows, the design team will schedule mentor inservices to discuss relevant topics.

The Print Design intern will work in our Williamstown office two days per week (Tues/Thurs is ideal). Our office is a deadline-driven but relaxed work environment. Portfolio work will be designed/produced/printed during the time of this internship. This is an unpaid position.
Required Skills
* Some portion of college-level design classes completed

* Strong knowledge of Adobe InDesign

* Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop (CS6)

* Understanding of image resolution and file types (.psd, .eps, .jpg, .tiff, etc.)

* Proficiency with Mac OS

* Time management skills

* Demonstrated knowledge of basic typography, layout/design principles

* Attention to detail

* Experience with file management and sharing (on a shared server, for example)

* Basic knowledge of HTML and Wordpress experience a plus
