B-HIP welcomes international applicants!
The Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP) is an intensive semester-long arts management internship program uniting the renowned cultural institutions of Berkshire County, Massachusetts, with students interested in arts administration. Interns work in a multitude of administrative capacities including development, marketing, public relations and programming - as they gain hands-on experience in the field of arts management.
B-HIP is a unique college course/internship program, combining class work, TalkBacks, cultural outings, and an intensive internship. Students can earn 12 credits through Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The course may also be taken on a non-credit basis, instead earning a certificate of completion.
Each internship is hand-tailored to suite each interns' needs, interests and talents. Former interns have worked at institutions such as The Clark Art Institute, MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Shakespeare and Company, and more!
MCLA's tuition rates are generally lower than those of comparable institutions; these same fees apply to the credit a B-HIP intern earns. Scholarships and tuition reductions are available on a limited basis. Interns receive a $100 weekly stipend and are provided with New England style townhouse accommodations.
Qualifications: Applicants must be at least a junior or senior in college with a 2.5 GPA. A strong interest in the arts and arts management required!
