Commencement Safety and Security Guidelines

We look forward to celebrating the MCLA Class of 2018 at this year's Baccalaureate Ceremony on Friday, May 11, and during Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12. As we move into this weekend of celebration, we have put additional guidelines in place to ensure that all those who gather for these celebrations may enjoy the festivities as safely and securely as possible. Ticket Information

**Only ticketed guests will be allowed to enter the Amsler Campus Center gymnasium. Guests without tickets will be directed to a secondary viewing area.**

Tickets are required for anyone age 3 (three) and older.

Students will receive up to 5 (five) tickets for family and guests. Each student must log in to order and print out their tickets between April 17 at 9 a.m. and April 30 at 11:59 p.m. Beginning May 2 at noon, any remaining tickets will be available to those graduates needing extra tickets on a first come, first served basis through the link above until they are gone or until May 10 at 11:59 pm. The handicap seating area is limited, please plan to have ticketed guests arrive early.

Tickets are not required for those processing as part of the Commencement ceremony. 

Current Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and Community may reserve tickets by calling the Office of Institutional Advancement at 413.662.5224 starting April 17 at 9 a.m. Tickets are given on a first come, first served basis. One ticket may be reserved per person.


Live Simulcast

Sullivan Lounge and the Campus Center Marketplace are great alternative venues to watch the Commencement Ceremony. Both venues, which are fully air conditioned, will be televising the ceremony. The lounge will also be equipped with crayons and other activities for small children. 

 (For graduates with guests that exceed the allotted ticketed amount, Sullivan Lounge is available as an additional viewing area and will also be equipped with crayons and other activities for small children.)

A representative from Grad Images will be taking photographs of every graduate as they cross the stage.  Information about ordering copies of these photos will be mailed to graduates.  For more information and to login to view your photos, click here.

Handicapped Access

Parking is available behind Murdock Hall with additional parking behind Bowman Hall on Montana Street.

Seating is available in the first section as you enter the gym; this section is reserved for handicapped persons plus one guest only.

Friday, May 11


Student Line Up
2:30 p.m., Church Street Center Social Hall

2:30 p.m., Church Street Center, Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Simulcast viewing is in the Church Street Center Social Hall.

Baccalaureate Ceremony

3 p.m., Church Street Center, Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium.  Reception to follow in the Church Street Center Social Hall.


Saturday, May 12


9:30 a.m., Amsler Campus Center, gymnasium
Each graduate will have access to 5 tickets for this event. Guests are invited to arrive at the Amsler Campus Center and begin seating within the designated areas. You may see MCLA staff members or ushers for assistance. Also, please remember that seating is on a first come, first serve basis. All guests must be seated by 10:45 a.m.

Student Line Up
10 a.m., Venable Hall, gymnasium
Graduating students participating in the Commencement 2018 exercises are required to check in at the Venable gym and will line up in this area to begin the procession to the Amsler Campus Center. Please be in attendance by 10:00 a.m.

Commencement 2018 Ceremony
11 a.m., Amsler Campus Center (10:45 a.m. Procession begins). All guests must be seated by 10:45 a.m.

Campus Reception
Following the Commencement Ceremony, Murdock Lawn
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held on Murdock Lawn for our graduates and guests.
