Students with Learning Differences

MCLA recognizes that not all students learn alike!

In order to help facilitate a student's academic success, MCLA offers students the option of disclosing their disability during the admissions process. Massachusetts state law does not require disclosure but does allow SAT 1 scores to be waived for all students who can provide official documentation of their learning disability. For those wishing to disclose, the following documentation should be provided at the time of application:

  • Diagnostic Testing Results including Psycho-educational assessments administered within the last three years.
    • WAIS III or WISC III
    • Achievement Testing
  • Individual Education Plan and/or 504 Plan

Admission criteria for learning disabled applicants does not differ from the standard admission requirements. However, students may be allowed to substitute two foreign language units with two units of humanities or social sciences under certain conditions.

All diagnostic materials are kept in strict confidence and will only be used within the guidelines of the American with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
