Campus Careers

09/21/2011

This fall, in addition to six new faculty, MCLA welcomes 20 staff members to campus. This year, however, about half of our new staff members have a special bond with the institution: They are MCLA alumni.

According to Marilyn Truskowski, director of human resources, MCLA continues to grow and expand with an increasing number of undergraduates, more majors and the new graduate program - the Professional Master's of Business Administration (PMBA).

Although the College has hired alumni in the past, the number of MCLA graduates who will begin their careers on the campus this fall is particularly notable, Truskowski said.

"More of them are our younger alumni who completed their degrees just this past spring or who graduated within the past couple of years," she explained. "We provide them with an excellent education and we want to use their talents at this institution. It's a bonus that they also are familiar with the campus, which of course further benefits MCLA."

Chelsey Burke '11 will use her degree in her business administration with concentrations in marketing and event and sports management as she works on special events and conferences in the Office of Institutional Advancement. She will be joined in Advancement by Christine Naughton '99, who will serve as a major gift officer, and Jami-Lynn Frank '03, who joins MCLA as a data entry associate.

Naughton comes from the Williams College Museum of Art, where she was the director of museum donations. Frank was an operations and compliance support specialist at True North Financial Services, Inc.

A former administrative assistant at Interprint, Inc. in Pittsfield, Mass., Elizabeth Macksey '80 will serve as an administrative assistant in the Department of Administration and Finance. She is joined by Ashton Darrett '11 (top left), who is a staff assistant in that office. He earned his degree in business administration with a concentration in management.

In Admissions, Devin Kibbe '11 (second from top, left), who earned her bachelor's in English literature, will join the Office of Admission at MCLA as an admissions counselor. And, Natasha Robinson '11 (third from top, left), who also earned her bachelor's in English, joins the College as the access coordinator of multicultural recruitment.

Michael Obasohan '11 (bottom left) joins student affairs as a staff assistant in the Office of Student Affairs. Obasohan, who earned his degree in arts management with a minor in business administration, also is employed as a box office associate intern at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.

Former English major Jennifer Dermady '06, who served as an executive assistant to the CEO at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Mass., will return to the English department as she serves MCLA as a clerk.

"We are looking forward to all of the new additions to our faculty and staff," Truskowski said. "They are an enthusiastic group and will add to the energy here on campus."
