MCLA Library Adds New Position
NORTH ADAMS, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announces that Pamela Contakos has joined its Freel Library in the newly added position of "digital services librarian," which was created specifically to help the library expand its digital offerings and increase ease of use for library visitors.
According to Maureen Horak, MCLA's associate dean of library services, the digital services librarian will help the Freel Library integrate new electronic resources and services into the learning and teaching environments of MCLA.
"Pamela's breadth of experience, along with her interest in emerging technology, corresponds with the Library's goal of using traditional and emerging technologies to deliver innovative and student-focused services," Horak said.
Contakos previously worked at the Donald B. Watt Library for the SIT Graduate Institute/SIT Study Abroad in Brattleboro, Vt., where she was the director of libraries and academic resources over the past year. She brings 11 years of experience from SIT as its librarian for digital collections and electronic resources, and as a technical services librarian and head of collections and acquisitions.
AT SIT, Contakos lead the effort to create a virtual library. Her experience includes implementing mobile library applications, open source systems, social media tools and digital collections.
