This annual event sponsored by the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce provides an opportunity to promote the College to thousands of people alongside dozens of area businesses. This year's Expo runs from March 13-15 at the Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro, MA. Please stop by and say hello.

Enrollment update
More and more people are attracted to the quality and value of an MCLA education. For the spring semester, undergraduate enrollment is up seven percent over last year. Early indications are that our fall applications will continue to be substantially ahead of last year.

Inauguration Day
Classes were suspended briefly on Tuesday, January 20 so that students could gather across campus to watch the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama. In addition, a group of students traveled to Washington D.C. to take in the inauguration first-hand; an experience they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day
For the 20th year, our athletics department held its annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, January 31 with sports clinics and activities for girls in grades 3-8. An addition to this year's program was a luncheon held on Thursday, January 29 with special guest Laurie Priest, director of athletics and chair of physical education at Mount Holyoke College.

Celebrating Modernity
2009 marks the 150th anniversary of an array of landmark events that influenced the modernization of global society, including the 1859 publication of Darwin's Origin of the Species, and the first commercial production of oil in Pennsylvania. MCLA will consider this threshold moment in modernity in a year-long observance of the sesquicentennial of 1859 entitled Is Modernity Sustainable?

Green Living series
On January 29, MCLA's Berkshire Environmental Resource Center (BERC) launched the 2009 "Green Living" seminar series.
