"MCLA not only gave me a great education in the classroom, it also gave me a chance to learn outside of the classroom. Whether it was on the baseball field, in the community, or working with different clubs and organizations MCLA gave me the chance to grow as a person. I use both my classroom and non-classroom education every day that I’m at work. I have to learn in every situation that presents itself, day after day. The meetings I attend are just like the small classroom settings at MCLA and allow me to feel comfortable. I prepare for those meetings just like I did for a test or a baseball practice. MCLA made me a better person. I feel more confident as a person with my MCLA degree."

Prospective Student Athletes

MCLA is committed to providing a quality educational experience for its student-athlete from both an academic and athletic stand point. These efforts have led to continued improvement in the team's performance on the field as well as in the classroom, with 40% of student-athletes achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher in the most recent semester. One of the most important aspects in the improvement of the athletic department has been the addition of more full-time coaches. This gives us an advantage over many other schools because the department can take a more hands-on approach. The coaches are able to be on and around campus, keeping in contact with their players and recruits.

Additionally, the college has invested in the facilities with new tennis courts, a soccer press box, drainage projects, and a new artificial turf field. The first year student-athletes have participated in time management and goal setting workshops, among other workshops which have addressed many critical issues facing society today.

MCLA is committed to providing a broad-based varsity, intramural, and club sport program with diverse participation opportunities to enhance the overall college experience of the students. We believe our athletics program significantly contributes to the development of students and the academic community.

To ensure a well rounded experience, the department became members of the NCAA Life Skills Program, and sponsored many workshops for student-athletes to enhance their out of class experience.

Thank you for your interest in the athletics program at MCLA. I feel we have an outstanding program that will enhance the development of each individual both academically and athletically. Best of luck in the future.
