MCLA Business Department Honor Society Inductees

NORTH ADAMS, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) business department recognized achievements of students and MCLA Trustee Tyler Fairbank as they were inducted into the business department honor society on Saturday, April, 24.

Zeta Zeta, the MCLA chapter of Delta Mu Delta, was chartered in 1992. Delta Mu Delta recognizes and rewards scholastic achievement in business subjects and promotes scholarship in training for business. All inductees must be enrolled in the business administration program.

Students were congratulated for their hard work in earning this recognition as a testament to their achievements and engagement on campus and in the community, which are part of the range of opportunities available at MCLA.

Inductees included Chelsey Burke '10, Justin Dolan '10, Elaine Haytko '10, Melanie Neyland '10, Jessica Tietgens '10, Ryan Tusko '10 and Vincent Wixsom '10.

Rebecca Oleson'10 was the recipient of the Wall Street Journal Award. The Wall Street Journal Award is given to the senior that the business department faculty members think best represents academic excellence and professionalism in their major program work.

Fairbank, the honorary inductee and guest speaker is chair of the MCLA Board of Trustees' Academic Affairs Committee. He is the chief executive officer of EOS Ventures, which develops and finances commercial wind and solar projects, connecting the natural beauty and resources of Berkshire County to the growing renewable and sustainable energy business.

Fairbank serves in leadership roles in numerous community organizations, including Northern Berkshire Healthcare, Berkshire Economic Development Corporation, Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, Berkshire Museum and Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey League.

Professor of Business Administration and Economics Nancy L. Ovitsky, Ph.D., said, "I am always amazed at how accomplished and motivated these students are when they first come to us.  We certainly do see them grow and mature in their years here, and we hope we have made some contribution to that development.  Mostly I see that what we do is facilitate the greatness that is already there in each of these students."
