"MCLA’s location provided me with endless opportunities to gain professional experience in the arts. I had a lot of fun working as a tour guide at MASS MoCA and in the education department at the Berkshire Museum, which allowed me to figure out what kinds of jobs I would like and to meet a lot of interesting arts professionals along the way. MCLA’s small size helped me develop close working relationships with my favorite professors who always took time to advise me on academic and professional concerns. I really felt like they were with me all the way."

Straight from New Orlean’s favorite club – the Maple Leaf Bar and Grill – come three of the city’s finest and funkiest; Papa Grows Funk, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Joe Krown. These musicians will come together for one night in a celebration of the crescent city and its signature sounds. It’s a Mardi Gras style kick off for the new MCLA Presents! season and the start of a new year at MCLA.
Join us for this joyous annual event, a benefit to raise funds for the Margaret A. Hart ’35 Scholarship Fund. The evening will feature local favorites as well as the Godfathers of a cappella, The Persuasions. Celebrate the life of the first person of color to graduate from the college as we raise funds for a scholarship in her name. Since 1962, the world famous Persuasions, pioneering a capella legends, have amazed audiences with their unique and soulful sound, based in clear gospel roots. Produced in association with MCLA’s African, Latino, Asian and Native American Association (ALANA).

Songs of the Spirit triumphantly returns to North Adams, bringing musicians whose work is based in many of the world’s wonderfully diverse spiritual traditions to celebrate the musical meeting places that we can all share. Last year these same artists performed for thousands across New York State, including a sold-out performance in New York City. Come see what the excitement was all about when legendary Klezmatics Lorin Sklamberg and Frank London once again team up with psycadelic sufi singer Haale and folk icon Tracy Grammer.
