MCLA to Host 'Coaches vs. Cancer' Basketball Classic this Weekend



NORTH ADAMS, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will host the Third Annual Coaches vs. Cancer High School Basketball Classic this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 8 and 9, in the College's Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium.

This event is free and open to the public.

It will feature all high school varsity basketball teams - boys and girls - aims to bring awareness to cancer while raising money for the Coaches v. Cancer Foundation.

Games will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. as the Drury High School boys' team face the Lenox High School boys' team.  The Classic will alternate boys and girls games both afternoons.  There will be seven games on Saturday, with another five on Sunday.

Hoosac Valley boys' basketball coach Bill Robinson spearheaded the event's creation three years ago with a single game featuring Hoosac and Drury high schools.  One year later, every county school was represented in the Classic.


Saturday games are scheduled as follows:


11a.m. - Drury vs. Lenox (boys)

12:30 p.m. - Lee vs. Lenox (girls)

2 p.m. - Taconic vs. Lee (boys)

3:30 p.m. - Mount Everett vs. Taconic (girls)

5 p.m. - Mount Everett vs. McCann Tech (boys)

6:30 p.m.- McCann Tech vs. St. Joseph's (girls)

8 p.m. -  Hoosac Valley vs. St. Joseph's (boys)


Sunday games are scheduled as follows:


Noon- Wahconah vs. Hoosac Valley (girls)

1:30 p.m. - Wahconah vs. Mount Greylock (boys)

3 p.m. - Monument Mountain vs. Mount Greylock (girls)

4:30 p.m. - Pittsfield vs. Monument Mountain (boys)

6 p.m. -  Drury vs. Pittsfield (girls)
