Final MCLA 'Green Living' Seminar to be Panel Discussion on Future of North Adams

NORTH ADAMS, MASS. - The spring 2013 "Green Living" seminars at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will conclude on Thursday, April 25, at 5:30 p.m. in Murdock Hall room 218 with a panel discussion on "Place-Based Prosperity and the Future of North Adams."

This will include North Adams Mayor Richard Alcombright, State Rep. Gailanne Cariddi, D-North Adams, Wendy McWeeny of the Partnership for North Adams, and Padraic Steinschneider of Gotham Design and Community Development.

The aim of this series, titled "Place-Based Prosperity," is to inform both students and community members about creative ways that reducing our environmental impact can be linked with enhancing local financial resilience and the vitality of cities and towns in our region. Lectures have addressed topics including financial and environmental implications of different development patterns, environmental certification programs, street and transportation design, land-use regulations, and urban revitalization.
