Where do Commuters Hangout?

Meals? All First-Year commuting students will participate in a mandatory $100.00 declining balance meal plan each semester. This meal plan introduces commuters to the array of campus dining services. Declining balance points may be used in the Cafeteria, the “to-go” cart in Bowman Hall and the Convenience Store (C-Store). Students may also dine on a cash basis. The Centennial Room, located on the 1st floor of the Amsler Campus Center, hours are:

Where can I park? Parking permits for commuter students may be purchased for $30.00 per semester at the Department of Public Safety during normal business hours. Parking permits are issued on a first come first served basis upon application and presentation of car registration, valid college ID and driver’s license. A parking permit provides students eligibility to park on campus, however, it does not guarantee that every permit holder will have a space every time they come to campus. Parking on campus without a parking permit, or parking in the incorrect lot may result in a vehicle being ticketed and/or towed.

Is somewhere I can leave my belongings? Lockers are available in Bowman Hall. Any student wishing to utilize a locker should go to the Department of Public Safety where a locker combination will be issued. At the end of each year, students need to remove their belongings from their locker. There is no fee for usage.

If it snows, how will I know if school is cancelled? The College will be closed whenever, in the judgment of the President or designee, a condition exists that may endanger the health and safety of staff and students. The President will notify the Department of Public Safety with will respond to incoming calls requesting information on the operating status of the College. Decisions about all-day closings will be made as early as possible, normally between 5:30-6:00am. The Department of Public Safety maintains a Cancellation Phone Number (662-5299) to inform students of closings as well as specific class cancellations. The following radio stations will air the closing of the College: WSBS (860 AM) WHGC (94.3 FM) WNAW (1230 AM) WHAI (98.3) WHAI (1240 AM) WMNB (100.1 FM) WBTN (1370 AM) WBEC (105.5 FM) WBEC (1420 AM)

Where can I work out? Fitness Center: The Fitness Center is located on the second floor of the Amsler Campus Center. The hours are set for each semester and are posted on the Center door. *Remember, all MCLA students are able to use the fitness center at Berkshire Community College with a valid MCLA ID! Pool: The pool is located in the Amsler Campus Center. Call 662-5411 for pool hours.

How can I get involved on campus? With approximately 40 student organization on campus, it is extremely easy to become involved at MCLA! The College offers something for everyone: academic societies, fraternities and sororities, specific interest clubs and student government, there’s even a Commuter Advisory Board. Joining a club or organization is an ideal way to meet students who share similar interests. It’s also a great way to make friends! Is there an Atm on campus? There is a TdBankNorth Automated Teller Machine located on the first floor of the Amsler Campus Center next to the Department of Public Safety.
