IMPORTANT HEALTH INFO FOR GRADUATING SENIORS: Avoid Monthly Tax Penalties! Do you plan to stay in Massachusetts after graduation? If so, did you know that there’s a law in Massachusetts that requires most residents age 18 and older to have health insurance or pay tax penalties? To avoid a tax penalty, you cannot be without health insurance for more than 63 consecutive days in a calendar year. The state’s Health Connector is here to help. The Health Connector is the only way to purchase comprehensive Young Adult Plans. These plans are easy to get and less expensive than most other plans. And, they include benefits like preventive care, inpatient and outpatient medical care, emergency care, mental health and substance abuse services. So don’t worry if you don’t have a job lined up with health insurance. You can get your own coverage. And you can cancel these plans if you get a job with health insurance. For further information, please call 1-877-MA-ENROLL or visit the Health Connector’s website at www.mahealthconnector.org.
