"MCLA provides a practical education that challenges students to develop themselves as thinkers, readers, writers, communicators, and problem solvers. Moreover, the MCLA liberal education prepares students for personal and professional success, helping students to comprehend the world and make informed self-directed decisions, preparing them for lives of civic responsibility."

Women's Center

The Susan B. Anthony Women's Center

The Women's Center at MCLA serves as a resource for the entire college community, providing educational development, service projects, and community outreach. The Women's Center houses a small library with academic books on women's rights, statistics, and inspiring women, which students may use for research projects or presentations. Students also may elect to minor in Women's Studies.

Women's Center Educational Goals

  • To develop programs to generate an increased awareness of women's achievements and struggles around the globe historically and today
  • To empower women to work for the strategic elimination of gender oppression, harassment, discrimination and violence through proactive instruction, conferences, service projects and presentations
  • To highlight the significance of feminist theory and scholarship as an instrument for transforming reality, thereby closing the gap between academics and activism, theory and practice
  • To encourage awareness of citizenship through community service, healthy lifestyles and gender relationships, civic duty and artistic expression
  • To reinforce our commitment that women's rights are human rights and thus oppression of women everywhere is a universal concern
