A New Look for Berkshire Towers...

MCLA recently completed the Berkshire Towers Entryway Project. This $3-million project provides Berkshire Towers with a new street-level entryway and some much needed common area space.

The project, which was funded by the Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA) provides Berkshire Towers with 3000-square feet of additional space and renovations to 5000-square feet of existing space. Kuhn Riddle Architects, Inc. of Amherst, MA and Aquadro Cerruti, Inc. of Northampton, MA comprised the design/build team for the project.

Berkshire Towers

Entry Level
The new entrance of Berkshire Towers is at street level making it easily accessible to everyone. Once you enter the front doors, you find yourself in a bright and airy lobby featuring a security desk, seating, a restroom and the option of an elevator or stairs that lead to the First Floor.

Lobby Level
The First Floor of Berkshire Towers houses open lounge space, a meeting room, a multi-purpose room, kitchenette and offices for the Residence Director (RD), Resident Advisor staff (RAs) and BT Advisory Board. Restrooms, vending machines and wireless internet are also available on this floor. The multi-purpose room is flexible enough to serve as a daily hangout, as well as, a space where students can go to a dance, a dinner, a lecture or any other type of community development activity (CDA) that they can dream up!

Mezzanine Level
The laundry room is now located on the Mezzanine Level. Rather than being enclosed in a room, the laundry room is now a common area space with lounge furniture, a table and chairs, vending machines and wireless internet. It's a great place to multi-task while doing your laundry.
