Student Research & Travel Grants
Students at MCLA are encouraged to apply for funds to help cover the costs of a) research or creative projects or b) travel to a conference or other professional meeting. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be an MCLA student who has made or will be making a significant intellectual contribution to the proposed activity.
Examples of fundable activities for research or creative projects include:
- Data-collection surveys or instruments
- Materials needed to complete a painting or sculpture
- Lab equipment
- Money to reimburse human subjects
- Cost of music or film production
Examples of fundable activities for travel destinations include:
- Conferences
- Gallery openings
- Film festivals
- Workshops
To apply for a student grant (maximum of $300 for individual applications $600 for group applications), students must complete an application and ask their faculty advisor to write a letter of support. Applications are evaluated on the student's intellectual contributions to the project and the merit of the proposed project or travel.
Applications may be submitted at any time. A decision is transmitted to an applicant approximately three weeks after receipt. The final date applications will be accepted for the 2012-2013 academic year is March 29, 2013.
Completed applications (including the letter of support) should be sent to Academic Affairs.
