Theatre Laboratory
Theatre Laboratory is a new series that encourages experiment with form and design, Advanced Theatre students will explore a particular genre of theatre, learning and applying methods of experimentation to the text as they conduct dramaturgical research and experience solving problems as an artistic community.
A modern adaptation of the great Greek tragedy, Agamemnon, by British playwright, Steven Berkoff will be performed. Agamemnon is the updated story of the infamous king of Argos returning home from Troy to be butchered by his traitorous wife. Vicious and accessible, Berkoff's text expands the story to include the major events which surround it, such as the fall of Troy and the roots of the curse of Atreus. The play is about the heat of the battle, as well as the fatigue, the marathon and the obscenity of modern wars.
The show runs April 17-20 and 24-27 at 8pm. Matinee at 2pm April 19, 20, 27. Student matinee on April 26 at 10am.
