Art at MCLA

Art StudentWhen you combine art with a liberal arts degree, you connect the arts with your life, career goals, interests, and expressions. As an art student at MCLA, you will experience total immersion in the creation of new, original artworks under the guidance of professors who are artists and professionals with national and international records of accomplishment.

Bachelor of Arts in Art Offers

Your special interests are accommodated with a multidisciplinary approach that takes advantage of expertise in other departments, including computer science and information systems, English/Communications, and fine and performing arts.  The arts can be combined with business experience through a double major with arts management.  As an advanced student, you will have the opportunity to further amplify your creativity by designing concentration areas based on your career goals and interests.

Art

Our ties to the flourishing arts community in the Berkshires facilitate involvement in cultural events, the exhibition of student work, and student internship placements in world renowned cultural institutions.  A partnership with the Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP) offers internship placements in cultural institutions including The Clark and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MOCA).  You can be involved in MCLA Gallery 51, a collaboration with the city of North Adams that offers exhibit space to local artists including MCLA faculty and students.  When attending local art gallery openings and other cultural events, you will have the opportunity to interact with the many professional artists, musicians, actors, and other performers who call North Adams home.
