Allied Health Concentration

The Allied Health Concentration provides the science background required for most post-baccalaureate programs in allied health professions such as physician assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, and nutritionist. 

In addition, if you meet the admission requirements at The Sage Colleges in Albany, NY and  fulfill department and articulation requirements at MCLA, you can be accepted into the Master's of Science in Applied Nutrition program at Sage. Please contact Dr. Ann Billetz for more information about this program.  


The Biology major consists of at least 63 credits including:

The four foundational courses (BIOL 101, 150, 240, and 235 or 245 

Nutrition (BIOL 250)

Anatomy and Physiology I & II (BIOL 342 & 343) 

Microbiology (BIOL 320) 

Biology Seminar (BIOL 330) 

Cell Biology (BIOL 480) 

Introduction to Chemistry I & II (CHEM 150 & 152) 

Organic Chemistry I & II (CHEM 201 & 202) 

General Physics I & II (PHYS 131 & 132) 

Introduction to Statistics (MATH 232)

Three credits of upper level elective Biology courses
