Biotechnology Concentration

The Biotechnology concentration provides a solid background in both biology and chemistry. This concentration emphasizes laboratory coursework, which prepares you for a wide range of careers in the field of biotechnology. You are strongly encouraged to gain experience through undergraduate research and internships.

Requirements

The Biology major consists of at least 69 credits including:

The five foundational courses (BIOL 101, 150, 235, 240, and 245)  

Microbiology (BIOL 320)

Biology Seminar (BIOL 330)

Biochemistry (BIOL 360)

Biometry (BIOL 390) 

Biotechniques (BIOL 410) 

Bioinformatics (BIOL 420)

Cell Biology (BIOL 480)

Introduction to Chemistry I & II (CHEM 150 & 152)

Organic Chemistry I & II (CHEM 201 & 202)

Database Development (CSCI243) 

General Physics I & II (PHYS 131 & 132)

Either Pre-Calculus (MATH 150), or Calculus (MATH 220)
or Intro to Statistics (MATH 232)
