Pre-Physical Therapy

This concentration fulfills the prerequisites of numerous Physical Therapy Graduate Schools. In particular, completion of this program will allow students meeting the criteria below to utilize the articulation agreement with Sage Graduate School for admission into the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Students who complete a B.S. in Biology at MCLA are granted automatic acceptance into the Occupational Therapy Master's or the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree programs at the Sage Graduate School upon completion of a Sage application and program-specific prerequisite courses, and obtaining a satisfactory recommendation from an MCLA faculty. 

Students pursuing the pre-physical therapy route must complete the following program-specific prerequisites as part of their B.S. in Biology coursework:

  • Introduction to Biology (BIOL 150)
  • Genetics (BIOL 240)
  • Zoology (BIOL 245)
  • Animal Physiology (BIOL 310)
  • Human Anatomy (BIOL 314)
  • Physiologic Aspects of Exercise (BIOL 440)
  • Biology Seminar For Entering Majors (BIOL 101)
  • Biology Seminar (BIOL 330)
  • Introduction to Chemistry I and II (CHEM 150 and 152)
  • Organic Chemistry I and II (CHEM 201 and 202)
  • General Physics I and II (PHYS 131 and 132)
  • Introductory Statistics (MATH 232)
  • Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 100)
  • Developmental Psychology (PSYC 210)
  • Upper Biology electives (3 credits)
  • Students must acquire an overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum science GPA of 3.0
  • Students must also complete 40 hours of clinical observation with a physical therapist

Pre-Occupational Therapy

This is an articulation agreement with Sage Graduate School which allows students who meet the criteria below to gain admission into the Master's in Occupational Therapy program.

  • Any liberal arts bachelors degree from MCLA which includes the following courses
  • Animal Physiology (BIOL 310)
  • Human Anatomy (BIOL 314)
  • General Physics I (PHYS 131)
  • Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 100)
  • Developmental Psychology (PSYC 210)
  • Abnormal Psychology (PYSC 270)
  • Statistical Methods in Psychology (PYSC 290)
  • Students must have minimum GPA of 3.0 and a grade of C or better in the courses above
