Interdisciplinary Studies at MCLA
The interdisciplinary studies major allows you to cultivate a self-reliant attitude toward learning by building a program of study that includes courses in two or more departments. Exposure to multiple approaches to learning will broaden your horizons and strengthen your appreciation for the diversity of practical experience.
Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies Offers
Our majors complete at least five courses in two different academic departments or areas of study. When combined, the individualized programs focus on areas such as American studies, community development, criminal justice, cultural studies, general science, health service management, humanities, human development, international studies, language studies, natural sciences, public administration, and travel and tourism.
You will work closely with a departmental advisor to select courses that will prepare you for specific professional opportunities or graduate study. If you are interested in teaching, you can pursue the interdisciplinary studies major while seeking licensure in education.
Our department collaborates with the Career Services Center to provide you with an internship experience that will complement your classroom work.
