Wee Read Berkshire County
The Berkshire Compact for Education is working together with the early childhood providers and libraries of Berkshire County and the Berkshire United Way's Early Childhood Think Tank to offer the second annual Wee Read Berkshire County in April. The initiative is designed to promote the importance of early childhood literacy and reading to children. Reading events revolving around the book Duck on a Bike by David Shannon will be held throughout Berkshire County. We will distribute 1,500 copies of the book to children at StoryWalks* in downtown areas, library reading hours and other special events along with a customized bookmark with family reading tips. The program builds upon Pittsfield's Wee Read initiative as well as early literacy programs that have been developed throughout the Berkshires.
