(Core Curriculum tier II Creative Arts Core Credit, open to juniors, seniors and sophomores by permission of instructor; CCCA 100 prerequisite; enrollment limited to ensure an optimal experience for all. NOTE: interested students much speak with instructor prior to depositing and registering for the course. This is a full-semester class that meets regularly before/after travel.

Explore Medieval and Renaissance arts, history and culture, culminating in a 13-day trip to Great Britain. Experience the arts and culture of the past and their contemporary legacies "hands on" through Britain's landscapes/cityscapes, museums, castles, cathedrals, historic sites, performance events and participation in workshops. Study literature, theatre, music, dance, visual arts, architecture, fashion and food onsite during travel and on campus through research and creative projects. Base locations in 2005 will be York (5 nights) and London (6 nights), with day trips to Cambridge, Durham, Canterbury and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Travel in England will be by rail, allowing class to experience the British landscape as we travel between destinations. Accommodations will be in two charming small hotels. The anticipated price payable to MCLA for the 13-day trip is $1,800 per person. Price includes: round trip airfare, charter mini-bus travel to/from MCLA/airport, 11 nights' accommodation, including daily full English breakfast; rail passes, admission fees/tickets to museums, historic sites, and performance events, theatre workshop, "extras", and some special meals (including a festive "welcome meal" and lunch with students and faculty at the College of York St. John). (Not included in the base price are daily lunch and dinner (except as noted) and incidental expenses.
