Teacher Licensure

Our teacher licensure programs are as effective as they are practical; students who complete our teacher licensure courses have a 98% pass rate on the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure.

Initial teacher licensure programs in the following subjects:

  • Early Childhood (Pre-K - 2)
  • Elementary (1 - 6)
  • Middle School (5 - 8) - biology, English, general science, history, humanities, mathematics, mathematics/science, physics, and political science/political philosophy
  • Secondary: (8 - 12) - biology, English, history, mathematics, physics, and political science/political philosophy.

In order to obtain an Early Childhood or Elementary teaching license in Massachusetts through MCLA, students at the undergraduate level must complete a major in the arts and sciences. Middle School and Secondary licensure candidates must major in the content area for the license. All licensure candidates will complete a minimum of 120 hours of work in a classroom appropriate to the license prior to student teaching.
