MCLA Hosts Berkshire Compact Aspirations Committee Initiative 8th Grade Career Fair
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Berkshire Compact Aspirations Committee Initiative will present an 8th grade career fair at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for students from northern Berkshire high schools on Wednesday, Jan.11.
The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., in Venable Gym and Bowman Hall. Participating schools include BaRT Charter School, Mt. Greylock High School, Hoosac Valley High School and Drury High School.
At the start of the fair, students will hear from MCLA President Dr. Mary K. Grant and the keynote speaker, Paul "Hutch" Hutchinson, about the importance of education, exploring interests and developing career aspirations.
Students will attend two workshops of their choice. Workshops will be designed to motivate and challenge. They will be presented by local professionals who are passionate about teaching students about their line of work.
The career workshops include those in architecture, arts, auto mechanic/auto body, banking/insurance, dentistry, education, electrician, engineering/manufacturing, fire/police, government/law, green technology, hospitality, information technology, journalism and media, marketing/advertising, nurses/medical fields, psychology/human services, sports/sports medicine and veterinary medicine/animals.
