MCLA to Hold Sam Gomez Classic
NORTH ADAMS, MASS. - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' (MCLA) Student Government Association (SGA) will hold its 36th Annual Sam Gomez Classic road race on Sunday, Oct. 20, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The USA Track and Field certified race, named for the late Dr. Samuel Gomez, former College philosophy professor and cross-country coach, is open to everyone. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Windsor Lake Park Project.
The Classic will include a wheeled-measured course race route, a 5K (3.1 mile) race, and also a one mile optional walk, which will begin at Church and Pleasant streets and end at Church and Davenport streets.
Awards will be presented to individuals in various age categories, including under 12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 and older. In addition, complimentary refreshments will be served for racers and family following the race.
