MCLA Welcomes 13 New Staff

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will welcome 13 new staff members to campus as the new school year begins this fall.

Kristen Banks '10 serves as an admissions counselor in the Office of Admission. Prior to accepting this position, she served as the assistant gallery manager at MCLA Gallery 51, and a lead counselor and event coordinator for the YMCA in Norton. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in arts management from MCLA.

Kristina Bendikas, Ph.D., will serve as MCLA's associate dean for assessment and planning in the Office of Academic Affairs. She comes to the College from the University of Albany in Albany, N.Y., where she was the interim director of program review and assessment. She earned her Ph.D. in drama from the University of Toronto in Canada; her master's of science degree in higher education administration and policy from the University of Albany; her MFA in theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.; and her bachelor's degree in English from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 

Mary Bishop is serving as a maintainer. She comes to MCLA from the Clark Biscuit Apartments in North Adams, where she served in the maintenance department. Bishop previously worked at Mt. Greylock Extended Care in Pittsfield as a cook, Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown as head cook, and Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield as a housekeeper. She graduated from Drury High School in North Adams. 

Amey Spiewak '09 is serving as the assistant to the chief advancement officer in the Office of Advancement. She comes to the position from a part-time position in that office, and previously worked as a judicial assistant in the Office of Student Affairs, as an orientation leader, and as a public safety dispatcher at MCLA. 

Mark Bushika is serving as a steam fireman at MCLA. He comes to the campus from Manpower in Pittsfield. He previously served as a maintainer at MCLA, as a physical education teacher at Tucker Creek Middle School in North Carolina, as a metal fabricator/welder and piper at Adams Plumbing and Heating in Adams, and in the United States Air Force as a metal fabricator. He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. 

Eileen Clark '82 is serving as a clerk in the Office of Admission. She previously worked in the office as an admissions assistant. She was the executive director of the Berkshire Dance Theatre, Inc., in Adams, and the owner/president of Martin's Shoe Store in North Adams. She earned her bachelor's degree from North Adams State College in sociology. 

Valeria Federici is the program coordinator at MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center. She comes to MCLA from Rome, Italy, where she worked in various freelance communications positions. Previously, Federici served as studio manager and curatorial assistant at Picture Projects, Inc., and Gilles Peress Studio in Brooklyn, N.Y., and as an intern with the Berkshire Hills Internship Program in 2007, where she worked in MCLA Gallery 51. She earned her master's degree in art history from the Universita' degli Studi Roma Tre in Rome, Italy. 

Stacy Gamache is an officer with campus public safety. She comes to MCLA from the Chesterfield Police Department, where she served as a reserve officer. She also worked at A.J. Write in West Springfield as the lead loss prevention detective in the public safety office at Smith College in Northampton. Gamache earned an associate's degree in criminal justice at Holyoke Community College. 

Kyle Lefebvre is serving as a campus maintainer. He comes to the position from MCLA facilities management, where he served as an assistant maintainer. Previously, he worked for ARAMARK Food Services at MCLA in janitorial/dishwashing, at positions with Vacation Village in Hancock and Cascade School Supplies in North Adams. He graduated from Drury High School. 

Bernadette Lupo is the communications and marketing coordinator in the President's Office at MCLA. She comes to the College from Northern Berkshire Healthcare in North Adams, where she served as a marketing specialist. She previously served as the director of communications for the National Patient Safety Foundation in North Adams, and the executive assistant to the vice chairman of Heidrick and Struggles in Manhattan, N.Y. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Framingham State College, with minors in business and communications. 

Brandon Pender '07 is the alumni relations coordinator in the Office of Advancement. He comes to MCLA from the Massachusetts State House, where he was a research analyst for the Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies. He previously served an internship for the Chuck Davis Project at Williams College. Pender earned his bachelor's degree in English/communications from MCLA. 

Adam Richardson is a help desk computer technician in MCLA's department of computer support services. A graduate of Drury High School, he comes to MCLA from North Adams Regional Hospital, where he served as a network support technician. He previously worked for the North Berkshire School Union, where he was a technology manager. 

Heather Quire is a residence director at MCLA. She comes to the College from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in Mansfield, Pa., where she served as the graduate residence director. She previously worked for Liberty Events Group, Inc., in Norristown, Pa., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as an event representative and training manager. Quire earned a master's degree from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in informational systems from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa.
