MCLA Welcomes 23 New Staff Members This Fall

NORTH ADAMS, MASS.  - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) recently welcomed 23 staff members to campus, to serve in a variety of positions.

Maya Bonatz joins MCLA's Office of Human Resources as the assistant to the payroll manager. She comes to the College form Pomeroy Electric Inc., where she was the human resources manager. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in enterprise economics from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., and an associate's degree from Florida State University.

Emily S. Bouplon '02 joined MCLA's Office of Human Resources Office in April as the human resources manager. She comes to the College from the ARC of Rensselaer County, where she was a benefits specialist in the human resources office. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from MCLA.

Dane Braman joined the College's facilities department in December 2012 as an HVAC mechanic. He comes to the College from Donovan's Contracting where he was a general laborer. He previously worked at Berry Fence Company, where he was an installer and builder; and Porter and Chester Institute, where he installed HVAC equipment. He earned a degree in HVAC business/trade.

Joseph Brandon joined MCLA's facilities department in December 2012 as a maintainer. He came to the College from Bentley Brook Resort, where he worked in maintenance. Previously he was a driver for Resnick's Mattress, and he also was a sergeant in the United States Army National Guard.

Sarah Bull-Samson joined the College's Department of Public Safety in March, where she is a campus police officer. She comes to MCLA from the Benningto County Sheriff's Department, where she served as a sheriff's deputy.  Bull-Samson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt.

Alyson Carey '13 joined MCLA's Office of Student Affairs as a staff assistant in the Center for Service and Citizenship in July. She previously worked as a medical volunteer as International Service Learning. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from MCLA.

Robert Carter joins the College's Department of Public Safety as a campus police officer. He comes to MCLA from the Central Intelligence Agency, where he was a security protective officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Westfield State University and an Associate's degree in criminal justice from Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield.

Jennifer Crowell joined MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center (BCRC) in April as the program coordinator. She comes to the College from the First Night Burlington program, where she was the executive director and booking production specialist. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a multi-field major, with concentrations in sociology, music and history from State Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Kayla Hollins '12 joined MCLA in February in the Office of Admission as an admissions counselor. She previously worked in Admissions as an admissions counselor and representative. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from MCLA.

Suzanne Hunger joins MCLA's Center for Student Success and Engagement (CSSE), where she is the associate dean. She previously worked at Helena College University of Montana, where she was the director of student success, the interim assistant dean of student services, and the director of retention and advising. She earned a master's degree in English literature from the University of Delaware in Newark, Del., and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English composition from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisc.

Marcia Jzyk joined the College's Administrative Systems Office in May as an application program/analyst. She comes to MCLA from General Dynamics AIS, where she was a senior systems engineer. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.

Hailey Katcher joins MCLA's Athletics Department as an assistant to the Athletic Trainer. She comes to the College from the University of West Alabama, where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer. She earned her master's degree in teaching and physical education from the University of West Alabama in Livington, Alabama and her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Robert Krzanik Jr. joins the College's Department of Public Safety as a campus police officer. He comes to MCLA from North Adams Regional Hospital where he worked in the security department and the Adams Police Department where he was a police officer. He earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from BCC and an associate's degree in mortuary services from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y.

Wayde Lincoln joined MCLA's facilities department as a maintainer. He previously worked for MCLA as a groundskeeper. 

Donnell Moye joined MCLA as a maintainer in the facilities department in June. He came to the College in June from Diversified Maintenance Company, where he served as a professional cleaning technician.

Mary Ellen Olenyk joins the College's Office of Human Resources, where she is the director of human resources. She comes to MCLA from Time Warner Cable, where she was the director of human resources. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the SUNY-Albany, and a graduate certificate from Cornell University from the Graduate School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Antonio Rodriguez joined the College's facilities department as a maintainer in April. He previously served as a line cook for 6 House Pub. He earned a degree in culinary arts from Brandford Hall Technology.

Courtney Shepard joins MCLA's Department of Graduate and Continuing Education as a program coordinator. She comes to the College from Roxbury Community College, where she was a college and career navigator. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.

David Sherman joined the College's Department of Public Safety in March as a campus police officer. He comes to MCLA from C and D Security, where he was a protective service officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Westfield State University.

Andre Terrell Smith joins MCLA's Office of Admission as the assistant director of admissions for multicultural recruitment. He comes to the College from Oklahoma State University, where he was an assistant director. He earned a master's degree in humanities and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international relations from Duke University in Durham, N.C.

Chelsea Stokes joins the College's Department of Residential Programs and Services as a resident director. She comes to MCLA from SUNY-New Paltz, where she was a resident assistant. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SUNY-New Paltz, in New Paltz, N.Y.

Dayne Wahl '09 joins MCLA's Office of Admission as an admissions counselor. He previously worked at the College as an admissions recruiter and an admissions ambassador. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies from MCLA.

Manat Wooten joins the College as an assistant director at the Center for Student Success and Engagement (CSSE)/Career Services. She comes to MCLA from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., where she served as director of student activities. She earned a master's degree in film studies from Hollins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in film studies from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y.
