MCLA Welcomes New Staff Members
NORTH ADAMS, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) has welcomed 18 new staff members this year to a variety of positions, including several employees who transitioned to full-time positions.
Aaron Bieniek, who previously worked in media services as a media services assistant, is a technical assistant in computer support services/media. He graduated from Hoosac Valley High School and has completed two years of studies toward his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at MCLA.
Karen Claramunt, who comes to MCLA from Interprint, Inc., where she worked as a purchasing agent, is the assistant for the following academic departments at MCLA - chemistry, environmental Studies, mathematics, physics and psychology. She graduated from Hoosac Valley High School.
Pamela Contakos, who previously worked at the SIT Graduate Institute/SIT Study Abroad as the director of libraries and academic resources, is an associate librarian at MCLA. She has a M.L.S. degree from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.
Janine Desgres is the assistant director of Student Success and Engagement and the coordinator of Career Services at MCLA. Prior to coming to the College, she worked at Holyoke Community College as a career development counselor and a Title III grant adjunct faculty member. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from American International College.
Jake Eberwein M.Ed. '03 is the dean of Graduate and Continuing Education at MCLA. Prior to coming to the College, he was the superintendent of Pittsfield Public Schools. He has an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts, and received his M.Ed. from MCLA in 2003.
Valeria Federici, previously MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center's (BCRC) coordinator, is a full-time staff assistant in that same position at the BCRC. A former Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP) participant, she also earned a master's degree in art history from the University of degli Studi Roma Tre in Rome, Italy.
Annette Jeffes is the dean of admissions and enrollment management at MCLA. Prior to her position at the College, she worked at Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y., as the assistant vice president of enrollment management and admissions. She has master's degree in education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn.
Devin Kibbe '11, who previously worked in the admissions office is now a full-time admissions counselor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from MCLA.
Curt King is the Chief Information Officer in Computer Support Services. He comes to MCLA from the State University of New York, Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where he was the assistant vice president of Integrated Technologies. He earned an M.B.A. from the State University College of New York, Empire State College, in 2011.
Griffin Labbance is a residence director at MCLA. He previously worked at Walter E. Ranger Elementary School in Tiverton, R.I., as a student teacher. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., which he earned this year.
Vikki LaPine '10 is the administrative assistant to the chief advancement officer in Advancement at MCLA. She comes to the College from Berkshire Bank, where she was a branch manager. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at MCLA.
Nicole LeBlanc is a residence director at MCLA. Previously, she worked at Binghamton University as the assistant resident coordinator. She has a master's degree in student affairs administration from Binghamton University, N.Y., which she earned this year.
Samantha Lincoln, who worked at MCLA as a co-op student from McCann Technical School as an apprentice electrician, is a maintainer in the Facilities Department. She graduated from McCann Technical High School.
Jennifer Meaney '05 is a clerk in the Registrar's Office. She previously worked at Hoosac Bank as a customer service representative/teller. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from MCLA in business administration.
Donnell Moye is a full-time maintainer at MCLA in the Facilities Department. Previous to coming to the College, he worked for Diversified Maintenance Company as a professional cleaning technician.
Rachel Picone, who previously worked as a nurse practitioner at MCLA in health services, is a full-time nurse practitioner in that department. She earned a master's degree in nursing, women's health and nurse practitioner from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Tracy Pierce '91 is a data integration specialist/middleware developer in MCLA's computer support services department. Previously, she worked at Family Properties in Clarksburg, Mass., as its property manager, bookkeeper and owner. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the College in 1991.
Kaylyn Smith works in Athletics as the NCAA intern. Previous to coming to the College, she earned her Master's of Education degree in physical education from Springfield College, where she was a graduate fellow in graduate admissions. She also worked at Westfield State University as an intern in their athletics department.
